Hello Cupcake

Today Mia and I went to Cantina in Mt Lawley for a little bit of sweet happiness.
This is a photo I took of Mia's chocolate cupcake before it was demolished!

Happy Mother's Day

To my two beautiful mums. Thank you for being there for all my ups and downs, and supporting me with unconditional love and compassion. I love you both dearly, and think I'm the luckiest daughter in the world! xxoo

Tiptoeing through the tulips

I've been having so much fun lately just shooting flowers in natural lighting. I take the photos on our back veranda which seems to get the best results, with nice soft lighting. So far I've kept the flowers on a white background which shows off their fragile beauty, but now I'm thinking I might try out a few other things. I'll be sure to post it when I do! Anyway here are a few more shots...this time of tulips.

Sculpture with leaves

Today I've focused on the amazing sculptural quality of a simple tulip stem. I fiddled for quite a while with this one, just getting the lighting right so the texture in the leaves could be shown at its best. These particular images remind of a Japanese calligrapher who painted in big swooshes on white paper.

Painting with flowers

Inspired by the soft and almost porcelain like quality of these flowers from the garden, I thought I would have a go at trying to capture their delicate beauty.

Geordie Bay Holidays

And so after a considerable amount of time procrastinating I've finally finished my painting.  I've even started blocking in my next one. Now I decided to make time to get to the easel most days, as it really is just a matter of time management. My biggest fear is getting so involved with it that I forget to pick my son up from school. So far this hasnt happened!
