Its been a little while since I last posted, so after buying Mr 5 some sunnies for the beach I managed to get him to sit still for 2 seconds to take these shots.

Mechanical Heart

This is an illustration I did way back when I was working full time for The West Australian newspaper. It was for the cover of the Health and Medicine liftout, and was all about the workings of a human heart and how to keep it healthy.

Smiley Face

There's something about a child's drawing that always makes me smile, and this is pretty much the favourite subject of my three year old to draw. Actually its the only thing she draws, and I have a filing cabinet stuffed full of them to prove it! Kids are pure genius in linework.

Summer days

Freshly squeezed lemon in a G&T, salt water and plenty of laughter is summer to me.

Little Gem

This amazing magnolia opened up today, and because it was a cloudy it didnt go all brown from the sun. Not a single petal was blemished!

Lola

For my daughters 3rd birthday mum decided she wanted to make her a doll. Now this was no ordinary  doll pattern. I remember pulling out this pattern amongst many other "future projects" when I was about 8 years of age! Finally there was a reason to make her, and this was a real team effort. Mum made the body and the beautiful clothes she's wearing, (she even has underwear on), and my auntie (being extremely handy with a needle and thread) stitched the beautiful flower details onto her shoes. I painted her face, and was so nervous I would mess it all up in some way I put it off until the last minute. My daughter named her Lola, and she will surely be a family heirloom in the years to come.

Illustrations

I was going through some of my archives of illustration work and thought I would share these with you. The first one is about celebrating birthdays, the second one about being in love and that he would give her the world, and the last is about Remembrance Day.

Sculpture

Sometimes you can stumble a cross a beautiful find that just has to be bought! This little sculpture did that for me. It sums up those lovely moments that happen between a parent and a child. After putting it in a few different areas of the house I decided on this spot.

Spring has Sprung

This is a photo I took last spring of snow pear blossom, one of my favourite trees. My son picked it off the tree and gave it to me, bless him, and this coffee glass was the smallest thing I could find to put it in. That single petal fell off the next day and inspired me to take the photo.

Greeting Card

So today I thought it was high time to start writing out some Chrissy cards, and when I came across this design I couldn't resist. Its by Hallmark cards and part proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. So cool I had to keep one for myself!

Sweet Stitches

Just wanted to share with you these beautiful little owls lovingly made for me by my mum and auntie. They spell out my husbands name and my own name (although they're a little mixed up in this photo). Each one was made from the same pattern but has taken on their own personality. Cute and quirky.
